Emeralds have been great companions and one of the most important gemstones in gold jewelry, in some cultures they represent hope or opulence.
Emeralds are precious stones with very different shades and intensities, but their value depends largely on their transparency since it is more common to see them with more opacity, so the more transparent the emerald is, the greater its value. These wonderful gemstones are composed of a variation of beryllium and sometimes accompanied by vanadium and chrome; their name comes from Persia where the word emerald means “green stone”.
The largest producer of emeralds is Colombia, in the central region of the country in Muzo known as: “the capital of the emerald”.
